Botswana VP Endorses Hichilema’s Digital Transformation Vision
Botswana’s Vice President, His Honour Ndaba Gaolathe, has arrived in Lusaka ahead of the Digital Government Africa (DGA) Summit 2025, an event being hailed as a powerful endorsement of President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision for a digitally driven Zambia.
Zambia’s Minister of Technology and Science, Hon. Felix Chipota Mutati (MP), personally welcomed Vice President Gaolathe, who also serves as Botswana’s Minister of Finance, describing his visit as a significant demonstration of regional cooperation and shared commitment to Africa’s digital transformation.
Hon. Mutati stated that the summit, and the Vice President’s participation, reaffirmed the resolve of SADC member states to align with President Hichilema’s goal of building a connected, transparent, and technology-enabled continent that fully participates in the global digital economy.
He noted that the DGA Summit’s key agenda items, including Digital Identity and Regional Interoperability, Building a Resilient Digital Economy, and Attracting World-Class Investment, are central to Zambia’s digital transformation strategy.
These discussions, he added, will drive economic integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and strengthen systems for efficient public finance management and service delivery.
“Zambia’s hosting of this summit demonstrates our leadership in championing Africa’s digital future. Vice President Gaolathe’s expertise will be invaluable as we translate vision into tangible progress for both our nations and the continent,” Hon. Mutati said.
The DGA Summit 2025, being held in Lusaka, brings together African leaders, ministers, and digital economy experts to advance regional cooperation and investment in digital governance.
