Zambia Delivers K13B to Fund Key National Priorities

The Government of the Republic of Zambia has highlighted its pledge to deliver on promises by releasing K13 billion in August 2025 to fund key national priorities. Officials say the move demonstrates that the national budget is not merely a statement of intent but a practical tool improving lives in real time.

According to the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, the allocation covered several priority areas, including:

  • K620 million for the Social Cash Transfer programme, supporting vulnerable households.
  • K119.6 million for the Food Security Pack, aimed at helping families and smallholder farmers secure meals.
  • K100 million through the Constituency Development Fund, providing bursaries, grants, and loans for youth, women, SMEs, and cooperatives.
  • K100 million to safeguard the Local Authorities Superannuation Fund, ensuring protection for retirees and their families.
  • K4.8 billion for the Public Service Wage Bill, guaranteeing timely salaries for teachers, health workers, and other civil servants.
  • K740 million channelled into infrastructure, including roads, health, water, and education projects.

Finance and National Planning Minister, Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane, MP, said the government’s focus is on credibility and delivery.

“Budget credibility is about action, not promises. Every kwacha released is a step toward restoring confidence, protecting livelihoods, and building the Zambia we aspire to. For citizens, this means food security, jobs, bursaries for children, and infrastructure that uplifts communities. No one is being left behind,” he stated.

The Government emphasised that monthly disbursements will continue to be targeted, timely, and transparent, reinforcing public confidence that resources are being put to work for the people.
