CEC Partners with LuSE as Gold Sponsor for Inaugural Zambia Capital Markets Conference and Awards 2025
The Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) has strengthened its commitment to Zambia’s financial sector by partnering with the Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) as a gold sponsor of the inaugural Zambia Capital Markets Conference and Awards 2025, scheduled for October.
As part of the partnership, CEC has contributed K250,000 to support the landmark event, which is expected to bring together policymakers, investors, and corporate leaders to deliberate on opportunities and challenges in Zambia’s evolving capital market ecosystem.
CEC’s Head of Corporate Communication and Investor Relations, Ms Verona Mwila, underscored the significance of the conference, describing it as an opportunity to showcase the growth of Zambia’s financial landscape. She highlighted CEC’s pioneering role in the issuance of Zambia’s first-ever Green Bond, a milestone that not only reflects innovation but also demonstrates growing investor confidence in the local exchange.
“CEC is a beneficiary of the reforms in Zambia’s capital markets, evidenced by the successful listing of the country’s first-ever Green Bond. Through partnering with the LuSE on this inaugural event, we look forward to the benefits the conference and awards will bring for present and future investors, showcasing the immense potential of Zambia’s capital market,” Ms Mwila said during the cheque handover ceremony.
The conference, set for the first week of October 2025, will also feature the inaugural Capital Markets Awards, recognising excellence and innovation among capital market participants. Award categories will celebrate company chief executives, secretaries, stockbrokers, and the media for their contribution to the sector’s growth.
LuSE Chief Executive Officer, Mr Nicholas Kabaso, praised CEC’s support and described the event as more than a conference.
“It’s a movement to elevate our capital markets, to attract investments and to inspire confidence in the promise of Zambia,” he said. “Together, let’s harness the power of capital markets to fuel Zambia’s economic transformation.”
Since its listing on LuSE, CEC has remained a key player on the exchange, with the partnership underscoring its longstanding commitment to driving investor confidence and financial innovation in Zambia.
