Liquid Intelligent Technologies South Africa Empowers SMMEs Through Fibre TechCelerate Programme
Liquid Intelligent Technologies (Liquid), part of Cassava Technologies, has announced the successful completion of its 2024 Fibre TechCelerate Programme, marking a milestone in the company’s commitment to skills development and digital inclusion.
At a graduation ceremony in East London, 20 Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) and 10 female ICT students from Walter Sisulu University received their certifications. The event also welcomed 25 new SMMEs into the 2025 intake.
The programme, delivered in partnership with the Eastern Cape Provincial Government and implementation partner Cortex Hub, equips SMMEs with technical, business, and digital skills to enable active participation in projects such as the province’s fibre and broadband rollout. Training covers business management, fibre optics installation, occupational health and safety, digital skills, and mentorship.
“As we honour the achievements of the first Fibre TechCelerate graduates and welcome our next intake, we’re reminded that this programme is more than just a skills accelerator; it’s a catalyst for transformation,” said Ziaad Suleman, CEO of Cassava Technologies in South Africa and Botswana. “We are proud to empower local businesses, especially youth and women, while investing in a digitally inclusive future for the Eastern Cape and beyond.”
Dr Andile Ngcaba, Patron of Cortex Hub, emphasised the long-term impact of the initiative, describing it as “much more than a local enterprise and supplier development programme,” and noting its role in preparing Eastern Cape SMMEs for success in the digital economy.
The current fibre network rollout in the province has already generated more than 7,000 permanent and temporary jobs. Liquid’s involvement highlights its commitment to providing world-class connectivity and digital solutions to local enterprises, government, and individuals, advancing South Africa’s digital transformation and ensuring no community is left behind.
