Truecaller Reaches 100 Million Monthly Users in Middle East and Africa

Truecaller, the global platform for verifying contacts and blocking unwanted communications, has crossed 100 million monthly active users in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, marking a 19% year-on-year increase.

The milestone, reached in August 2025 across both Android and iOS platforms, reflects the app’s rapid adoption in markets with strong mobile-first cultures. According to the company, MEA’s growth is being fuelled by rising smartphone penetration and mobile data usage.

“With the Middle East and Africa experiencing significant growth in smartphone adoption and mobile data use, we’re delighted to be addressing communication challenges for individuals and businesses in the region,” said Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller. “Like India and other mobile-first markets where the mobile number is the primary identifier, Truecaller has grown organically in MEA. We continue to strengthen our organisation and partnerships in the region, which we believe will see substantial growth for years to come.”

Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Algeria, Ghana and Jordan are among Truecaller’s largest MEA markets, where the app is typically installed on 20–45% of connected smartphones.

Globally, Truecaller has over 450 million active users, more than a billion downloads since launch, and in 2024 alone identified and blocked close to 56 billion unwanted calls. Founded in 2009, the company is headquartered in Stockholm and has been publicly listed on Nasdaq Stockholm since October 2021.
