Zambia Gears Up for 97th Agricultural and Commercial Show with Climate Focus and Record Participation

Zambia is set to host the 97th Agricultural and Commercial Show from July 30 to August 4, 2025, in Lusaka, under the theme “Adapting to Climate Change.” This year’s edition promises to be one of the largest and most impactful yet, spotlighting innovations in climate resilience, private sector growth, and Zambia’s expanding role in regional and global trade.

Speaking during a media briefing on Thursday, Agricultural and Commercial Show Society of Zambia (ACSZ) President Dr. Bernard H. Moonga announced that 24 countries have confirmed participation, including China, Tanzania, India, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and the Czech Republic. Over 100,000 square meters of exhibition space has been allocated, with nearly all booths, spanning corporate, government, and SME sectors, already booked.

“This is more than just an exhibition. It is an economic platform that reflects Zambia’s resilience, its growing innovation capacity, and its readiness to adapt to climate change,” said Dr. Moonga. He added that the event will showcase climate-smart technologies and facilitate critical policy and trade dialogues.

President Hakainde Hichilema, Patron of the Show Society, is expected to officiate the opening ceremony on August 2, alongside a visiting Head of State. Vice President Mutale Nalumango will officiate during the business segment on the third day, which will include high-level forums hosted by the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, addressing trade policy, regional integration, and industrialization.

Among the new features for 2025 are an expanded Green Pavilion focused on renewable energy and environmental sustainability, electronic ticketing gates to streamline entry, and digital judging systems to improve transparency in competition categories.

A health walk and awareness march will precede the show on July 26, while a stakeholder cocktail reception is scheduled for July 31. The event will conclude on August 4 with the annual Farmers’ Day Cross Country Golf Tournament at the Lusaka Golf Club, drawing over 100 expected participants.

Following last year’s success, which drew over 220,000 visitors, 1,370 local exhibitors, and 22 international delegations, organizers anticipate a record turnout in 2025. Platinum sponsors include the Zambia Revenue Authority, Barrick Lumwana, Stanbic Bank, and First Quantum Minerals, while Gold sponsors feature the Zambia Industrial Commercial Bank (ZICB) and the Zambia Chinese Association.

Dr. Moonga called on the public and private sector to support the show, highlighting its critical role in trade, tourism, and investment promotion, and as a symbol of Zambia’s forward-looking economic ambitions.
