Orange and Huawei Partner to Launch 5G in Egypt, Ushering in a New Era of Connectivity
Orange Egypt and Huawei have entered into a landmark strategic partnership to deploy advanced 5G technology across Egypt, marking a pivotal milestone in their long-standing collaboration and a major leap forward for the country’s digital transformation agenda.
The newly announced partnership will accelerate Egypt’s transition to next-generation connectivity, enabling technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR). These technologies are key to driving innovation in areas like smart cities, digital services, and industry automation.
As part of the agreement, Huawei is providing its state-of-the-art Massive MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) solutions for Radio Access Networks (RAN), enhancing service quality, network performance, and spectral efficiency. This will ensure ultra-fast data speeds and low latency, especially in high-density urban environments.
Huawei’s Massive MIMO technology utilizes advanced beamforming and spatial multiplexing to expand capacity and optimize bandwidth for heavy data applications such as 4K/8K streaming, AR, and VR—transforming user experiences nationwide.
In alignment with global sustainability efforts, Huawei is introducing its innovative ‘0 Bit 0 Watt’ energy efficiency platform. This AI-powered system intelligently manages power usage across 5G networks, enabling Orange Egypt to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions while maintaining optimal performance.
“Through this platform, we’re not just advancing connectivity—we’re also leading in environmental responsibility,” said Dr. Ayman Amiri, Chief Technology & Information Officer at Orange Egypt.
The partnership also includes the deployment of Huawei’s E-band microwave technology, designed to deliver ultra-high throughput and low-latency wireless backhaul. This solution is ideal for areas where traditional fiber deployment is challenging, helping bridge the urban-rural digital divide and extend 5G reach across Egypt.
“We are excited to deepen our partnership with Huawei and bring innovative 5G solutions to Egypt,” said Dr. Amiri. “This integration will not only enhance our network but also lay the groundwork for new digital ecosystems.”
Mr. Mohamed Youssef, Key Account Executive at Huawei Egypt, added, “We’re proud to support Orange Egypt’s 5G journey. Our collaboration reflects Huawei’s commitment to delivering reliable, energy-efficient mobile networks that meet the growing demand for high-speed digital services.”
