Emirates and Air Mauritius Renew Strategic Pact to Boost Global Connectivity

Emirates and Air Mauritius have renewed their long-standing strategic partnership aimed at boosting cooperation across passenger services, cargo handling, and frequent flyer programmes.

The agreement, formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Mauritius, reinforces the relationship that began in 2003 and was previously renewed in 2013.

The renewed partnership includes a reciprocal codesharing agreement, enabling customers of both airlines to enjoy seamless travel across select routes beyond each airline’s network.

The collaboration also expands mutual benefits for frequent flyer members and improves cargo service coordination, contributing to the ongoing development of Mauritius as a globally connected tourism and trade hub.

Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates, emphasized the significance of the partnership: “Now in its 23rd year, our strategic relationship with Air Mauritius has consistently delivered value to the island nation.

With seamless connections, integrated ticketing, and loyalty rewards, we are proud to support Mauritius’ tourism economy and look forward to even stronger collaboration in the years ahead.”

Air Mauritius Chairman Kremchand (Kishore) Beegoo echoed this sentiment, describing the renewed partnership as a major milestone. “Emirates is one of our key strategic allies. This enhanced agreement will allow both airlines to provide broader network access to passengers and continue supporting the Mauritian tourism sector,” he stated.

Under the codeshare agreement, Air Mauritius will place its flight code on Emirates-operated services to cities including Cairo, Colombo, Karachi, Dammam, Jeddah, and Riyadh. In turn, Emirates will codeshare on Air Mauritius flights between Mauritius and Antananarivo.

Additionally, Air Mauritius will benefit from interline access to Emirates’ vast global network, allowing for easier connections to 128 destinations.

Since launching flights to Mauritius in 2002, Emirates has carried over 8.8 million passengers and transported more than 126,000 tonnes of cargo to and from the island. Its operations have generated substantial benefits for the local economy, contributing an estimated USD900 million annually—including USD264 million in tourism receipts and USD530 million from tourism-related spending. The airline’s presence has also supported 3,600 jobs in Mauritius.

Currently, Emirates operates 14 weekly flights between Dubai and Mauritius using its flagship Airbus A380 aircraft, offering the only First Class service on the route. Emirates maintains over 160 global commercial partnerships, extending its network to nearly 1,800 cities worldwide.
