Thunder Mashups Ignite the Beat Ahead of Mosi Day of Thunder 2025
Zambian Breweries is turning up the excitement for the 8th edition of Zambia’s biggest music festival, Mosi Day of Thunder, with an all-new fan-powered musical experience — the Thunder Mashups. This innovative initiative has brought together local fans and some of the country’s hottest music talents to create never-before-heard collaborations, building massive buzz ahead of the Livingstone-based festival.
The Thunder Mashups featured eight of Zambia’s top artists, with fans voting for their favourite pairings. After a spirited round of voting, the top four duos entered the studio in April to produce brand-new anthems. The result? Four unique tracks set to light up the Thunder stage: PYE PYE by Xaven and Towela Kaira, WAR by 76 Drums and Jae Cash, NKATUMPA by Triple M and JC Kalinks, and CHALILA by Vinchenzo and Chanda Na Kay.
“Mosi Day of Thunder is more than just a concert — it’s a celebration of identity, creativity, and the power of music,” said Zambian Breweries Acting Country Director Nkanyiso Mncwabe. “This year is extra special as we mark 50 years of Mosi Premium Lager, a symbol of unity, culture, and pride that draws inspiration from the majestic Mosi-oa-Tunya Falls.”
Livingstone, the tourist capital, will once again come alive as the festival transforms into a full weekend experience. Festivities will kick off on Friday with a city-wide Bar Crawl. Saturday will feature the main concert, headlined by the Mashup artists and other big names, alongside a new addition — the Mosi Light Up Zone, a second stage dedicated to an all-DJ lineup. On Sunday, the mellow Sunset Session will close the weekend with scenic vibes and chilled rhythms.
To make the celebration even bigger, Zambian Breweries is offering 20 lucky fans the ultimate VIP treatment: an all-expenses-paid trip to Livingstone to experience the festival in style. Winners will enjoy iconic sights like the Mosi-oa-Tunya Falls, unforgettable performances, and, of course, the refreshing taste of Mosi Premium Lager.
Zambian Breweries Head of Marketing, Susan Luneta, said this year’s festival aims to deliver more layers of engagement, creativity, and connection. “From fan-powered mashups to a multi-stage experience, this year’s Mosi Day of Thunder will be unforgettable.”
Zambia Association of Musicians President, Brian Bwembya, praised the brewery’s efforts in promoting local artistry. “Zambian Breweries is not only entertaining the nation but empowering creatives. The Thunder Mashups are a great example of collaboration and vision — showing that Zambian music is world-class.”
Artist 76 Drums shared his excitement about the project: “This was a rare opportunity to collaborate in new ways. Big up to Zambian Breweries for giving us the platform to express ourselves on such a huge stage.”
As always, safety will be a top priority. Zambian Breweries is working closely with RTSA, Zambia Police, the Ministry of Tourism, Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA), and the National Heritage Conservation Council (NHCC) to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
The event also sees support from partners including Coca-Cola, Robertsons Spices, and Yango, who are adding their own flavour to what promises to be Zambia’s most memorable music weekend of the year.
