Zambia Secures Macadamia Export Deal with China
Zambia has taken a major step in boosting its agricultural exports after signing a historic export protocol with China, allowing Zambian macadamia nuts to enter the Chinese market.
The agreement, signed at the Zambia Agriculture Research Institute (ZARI), is expected to significantly enhance trade relations between the two nations and create new opportunities for local farmers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chinese Embassy Charge D’Affaires Wang Sheng, representing Ambassador Han Jing, emphasized China’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with Zambia, particularly in agriculture.
“This agreement reflects the strong diplomatic and trade partnership between our two nations. China is dedicated to supporting Zambia’s agricultural sector through increased market access and investment,” Wang stated.
Agriculture Minister Reuben Mtolo hailed the protocol as a “milestone” for the country’s macadamia industry, citing its potential to improve farmers’ livelihoods, generate employment, and increase foreign exchange earnings.
“This agreement opens up new markets for our farmers, ensuring higher incomes, job creation, and increased export revenue,” he said.
