ERB Investigates Fuel Contamination at Surya Service Station in Lusaka

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has launched an investigation into a reported case of fuel water contamination at Surya Service Station on Mosi-O-Tunya Road in Woodlands, Lusaka.

Preliminary findings reveal that on Saturday, 25th January 2025, around 19:30 hours, eight motorists reported vehicle malfunctions after purchasing contaminated fuel from the station. 

Following these complaints, the ERB instructed the station to suspend fuel sales until the product meets Zambian Standards.

Motorists affected by the contamination have approached Surya Petroleum Limited for vehicle repairs. 

In a statement issued by Musonda Chibuu, ERB Acting Manager – Public Relations ERB has advised motorists who purchased fuel from the station between 19:30 and 20:30 hours to seek redress by providing proof of purchase, such as receipts or verification through the station’s CCTV system.

The ERB emphasized the importance of obtaining receipts when purchasing fuel and urged motorists to report incidents of contaminated fuel promptly.
