Critical Minerals Africa Rebrands as African Mining Week

The Critical Minerals Africa conference has officially rebranded to African Mining Week (AMW). Scheduled for October 1-3, 2025, at the Cape Town International Convention Center, this strategic event will run alongside African Energy Week (AEW), fostering collaboration between Africa’s energy and mining sectors.

Organized by Energy Capital & Power (ECP), AMW highlights Africa’s mining potential, showcasing its dominance in global cobalt, manganese, chromium, and diamond production.

With the continent’s mining market projected to reach $135 billion by 2027, the event emphasizes the need for integration and cross-sector synergies to unlock untapped resources and accelerate sustainable development.

“Africa’s resources can redefine global supply chains,” said Rachelle Kasongo, AMW Project Manager. “Now is the time for strategic investment to unlock this potential.”

James Chester, CEO of ECP, underscored the event’s mission to strengthen Africa’s role in global mining and energy value chains through partnerships, M&A opportunities, and value-added investments.
