Gov’t Boosts Investment in North-Western Province

The North-Western Provincial Administration, in partnership with the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), is stepping up efforts to attract investment to the region.

The China-Zambia North-Western Province Business Promotion Conference, held in Solwezi on 7th January 2025, highlighted opportunities in mining, agriculture, tourism, and alternative energy production.

North-Western Province Minister Robert Lihefu called on Chinese and local investors to capitalize on these prospects through partnerships and joint ventures.

“This event fosters trade and investment cooperation in key sectors of Zambia’s economy, leveraging our strong ties with China,” he noted, citing recent high-level meetings between President Hakainde Hichilema and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Chinese Deputy Ambassador Sheng Wang echoed this sentiment, encouraging bilateral business partnerships to drive mutual growth. Prominent Chinese investors expressed interest in energy, mining, infrastructure, logistics, and telecommunications projects.

ZDA Board Member Dr. Mcgerald Mvula reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting investors, stating, “Together, we can transform this region into a thriving economic hub.”

The conference sets the stage for deepened economic ties, promising significant growth for Zambia’s North-Western Province.
