Zambia Launches 2024 Proudly Zambian Campaign Catalogue to Boost Local Manufacturing
Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Hon. Chipoka Mulenga MP has lauded the Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) for their efforts in ensuring Zambian-made products meet international standards.
Speaking at the launch of the 2024 Proudly Zambian Campaign Catalogue held at Radisson Blu Hotel, Hon. Mulenga emphasized the importance of innovation in addressing economic challenges.
The event, which coincided with ZAM’s 38th Annual General Meeting, saw the Ministry of Commerce signing an agreement with ZAM to bolster local manufacturing.
“This past year has been challenging, marked by a severe drought that affected every Zambian and disrupted industrial productivity. However, these challenges have revealed opportunities, especially in the energy sector, driving diversification and resilience,” said Hon. Mulenga.
He highlighted the government’s proactive measures to tackle the power crisis and urged manufacturers to adopt innovations to enhance productivity and household incomes.
ZAM President Ashu Sagar applauded the sector’s resilience, reporting a 2.3% growth in Q1 2024 and a 9.3% GDP contribution during the same period.
“This growth reflects the hard work of our members and supportive government policies,” Mr. Sagar noted.
