SADC Executive Secretary Pays Courtesy Call on President Duma Gideon Boko of Botswana
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Executive Secretary, His Excellency Elias Mpedi Magosi, paid a courtesy call on President Duma Gideon Boko, the newly inaugurated sixth President of the Republic of Botswana, at the Office of the President.
H.E. Magosi congratulated President Boko on his recent election victory and briefed him on SADC’s work, including key initiatives involving Botswana as a Member State and host of the SADC Secretariat.
The discussions also covered regional peace and security, with a focus on the upcoming Extraordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government scheduled for 20th November in Harare, Zimbabwe.
President Boko reaffirmed Botswana’s commitment to SADC’s Democratic Principles, emphasizing the nation’s strong and vibrant democracy. He called on SADC to lead reforms for an inclusive and representative global order, underscoring the importance of regional collaboration in peace, security, and socio-economic development.
Accompanying President Boko were the Minister of International Relations, Honourable Dr. Phenyo Butale, and senior officials. H.E. Magosi was joined by a delegation including Ms. Barbara Lopi, Head of Communications and Public Relations, and other senior SADC Secretariat officials.
