UAE Pledges Support for Ethiopia’s Climate and Food Security Initiatives  

At the World Without Hunger Conference, United Arab Emirates’ (UAE’s) Minister of State, Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, stressed the importance of global cooperation to address urgent environmental and food security challenges.

Sheikh Shakhboot commended Ethiopia’s efforts in tackling climate change and reiterated UAE’s commitment to assisting Ethiopia both locally and regionally. 

Highlighting the countries’ shared goal of eradicating poverty and enhancing food security, he detailed a joint UAE-Ethiopia project on 3,500 hectares near the Omo River, aimed at bolstering sustainable farming practices.

He further noted that, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE has made substantial investments aligned with its National Strategy for Food Security 2051. 

With a focus on tech-driven agriculture, waste reduction, and risk management, UAE has allocated $4.86 billion in climate and food security initiatives as of 2024.

In closing, Sheikh Shakhboot called for solidarity among nations to drive a resilient, sustainable future for all.
