FINCA Malawi Sponsors Microfinance Conference to Promote Financial Inclusion
FINCA Malawi has made a substantial investment in the advancement of financial inclusion by sponsoring the Malawi Microfinance Network Annual Lake Conference with a contribution of MK3 million.
Scheduled to take place from October 17-19, 2024, the conference will focus on the theme “Inclusive and Sustainable Financing for MSMEs: Catalyzing Agricultural Commercialization in Malawi.”
Esther Sikelo, Chief Finance Officer of FINCA Malawi, highlighted that the conference theme aligns seamlessly with the organization’s mission to transform lives through sustainable financial solutions. It also reflects the objectives of the Government’s 2025 Agriculture, Tourism, and Mining (ATM) strategy.
“FINCA’s purpose is to support all business segments to gain financial independence,” Sikelo stated. “This sponsorship demonstrates our commitment to financial inclusion, a crucial aspect of our mission.”
Duncan Phulusa, representing the Malawi Microfinance Network, expressed appreciation for FINCA Malawi’s ongoing support and its dedication to fostering financial inclusion and independence in the country.
He emphasized that the collaboration between FINCA and the Microfinance Network is vital for achieving economic development and empowering communities across Malawi.
Operating in Malawi since 1994, FINCA Malawi has provided financial services to over 53,000 clients, significantly contributing to the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), creating employment opportunities, and improving living standards in the region.
The upcoming conference aims to further this mission by bringing together stakeholders to discuss innovative financing solutions and strategies for sustainable economic growth.
