Zambia Prepares for First-Ever Mining Insaka
The Zambian government is gearing up for the inaugural Zambia Mining and Investment Insaka, set to take place from October 7th to 11th, 2024, in Lusaka. The event is expected to be the largest mining gathering in the world, according to Minister of Mines and Minerals Development, Hon. Paul Kabuswe.
Speaking during a sponsorship cheque handover ceremony from industry leaders such as Barrick Gold Lumwana, GoviEX, Zambia Industrial Commercial Bank, Collum Coal Mining Industries Ltd., and Sanlam Zambia, Kabuswe emphasized the significance of the Insaka as a platform to explore why Zambia, once a top copper producer, has seen a decline in its global ranking.
“The country is endowed with abundant minerals, and this event will seek strategies to increase production and strengthen our mining capacity,” said the Minister.
The Zambia Mining and Investment Insaka will run under the theme “Mining Beyond Copper – Celebrating 100 Years of Mining in Zambia.” The event aims to attract global mining investors while celebrating Zambia’s century-long mining legacy, with discussions extending beyond copper to other mineral resources.
