FAZ Celebrates U20 Team’s Qualification for 2025 AFCON
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to the under-20 boys’ national team for qualifying for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
FAZ President Andrew Kamanga expressed immense pride in the team’s achievement, marking their back-to-back qualification as a significant milestone for both the association and the nation.
“On behalf of my executive committee, I wish to congratulate the under-20 national team and the technical bench. The qualification to the AFCON is yet another milestone that speaks to the progress espoused in our 10-year strategic plan,” Kamanga stated.
He urged the team to remain focused and set their sights on lifting the trophy, emphasizing that this victory would resonate with the 60th independence anniversary celebrations underway in the country.
“AFCON qualification is a perfect independence gift for the Zambian people by our under-20 side,” he added.
The U20 team secured their spot in the tournament after a thrilling encounter against Zimbabwe, which ended in a 2-2 draw before Zambia triumphed 6-5 in the penalty shootout.
Zambia previously claimed the U20 AFCON title in 2017 and made a return to the tournament in 2023. With the upcoming 2025 edition, the team aims to surpass their previous performances and make a lasting impact on the continental stage.
