FQM Empowers Local Entrepreneurs with Latest Business Clinic in Kalumbila
First Quantum Minerals (FQM) has once again opened its doors to local entrepreneurs, holding its annual business clinic in Kalumbila to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Held in collaboration with the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), the event attracted government officials, financial institutions, and industry leaders under the theme, “Driving Local Economic Growth Through Sustainable Partnerships.”
FQM’s Trident Foundation hosted the business clinic, which aims to integrate local businesses into the mining supply chain. The initiative provides practical knowledge, networking opportunities, and support for SME growth within the North-Western Province.
Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Hon. Elias Mubanga, praised the joint efforts of FQM and ZDA, urging other mining companies to follow suit in supporting local economic development.
He emphasized the critical role of such platforms in accelerating Zambia’s development by providing local businesses access to new markets.
FQM Country Manager, Dr Godwin Beene, reaffirmed the mining company’s commitment to empowering local businesses and supporting Zambia’s broader developmental goals. FQM has provided K6.7 million in microfinance grants over the past four years, benefiting 145 businesses through training and support.
ZDA Regional Coordinator Andrew Hachibe highlighted plans to expand the partnership with FQM, promising more impactful activities and streamlined procedures to support aspiring entrepreneurs.
The FQM Trident Business Clinic remains a driving force behind Kalumbila’s local economic growth, helping small businesses access new opportunities while contributing to Zambia’s national development trajectory.
