MTN Zambia Donates 50 Internet Dongles to UNZA
MTN Zambia, a leading telecommunications and digital connectivity provider, has made a significant donation of 50 internet dongles to the University of Zambia (UNZA). This gesture aims to support the university’s efforts in enhancing digital learning and ensuring all students have access to reliable internet.
The donation was officially presented at a ceremony held at the University of Zambia. The 50 internet dongles, affectionately dubbed “Ka Kakonek,” reflect MTN Zambia’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and promoting educational opportunities across the country.
Professor Mundia Muya, Vice Chancellor of the University of Zambia, expressed deep appreciation for the contribution.
“We are thrilled to receive this generous donation from MTN Zambia. Reliable internet access is essential for our students, especially in today’s digital academic environment. This donation will significantly enhance their ability to engage with course materials, participate in online activities, and excel in their studies,” he said.
Mr. Richard Acheampong, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Zambia, emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting education and digital inclusion.
“MTN Zambia is committed to using our resources to positively impact communities. We understand that technology access is crucial for educational success and are proud to support the University of Zambia’s mission to provide quality education and equal opportunities for all students,” Acheampong stated.
In collaboration with Huawei and ATEL, MTN Zambia has also introduced mini-Wi-Fi units to enhance Wi-Fi experiences at a cost-effective rate. Acheampong thanked Huawei and ATEL for their support in ensuring the best user experience.
The donated internet dongles will be allocated to students who face challenges accessing online resources due to limited or unreliable internet connections. This initiative aligns with MTN Zambia’s broader strategy of ensuring that everyone benefits from a modern, connected life.
