PMNCH Calls for Bold Transformations at Summit of the Future
As the Summit of the Future nears, the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH) has issued a crucial statement urging Member States to embrace bold, transformative actions.
With the United Nations’ Pact for the Future on the horizon, PMNCH emphasizes the need for a robust approach to improve the health and well-being of women, children, adolescents, and youth globally.
In its statement, PMNCH calls for the Pact to not only reaffirm existing commitments but also drive meaningful change. The organization insists on inclusivity and equity, stressing the importance of concrete measures to support marginalized populations.
Gender equality and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) must be prioritized, with tangible targets and accessible health systems.
Moreover, PMNCH advocates for the active involvement of adolescents and youth as leaders and decision-makers. It highlights the need for clear frameworks for their engagement and stresses the importance of strong partnerships and accountability mechanisms to ensure the Pact’s success.
The statement also condemns the ongoing preventable deaths of women and children due to inadequate healthcare, calling for urgent, multi-stakeholder action to address these disparities.
PMNCH is committed to working alongside governments and other stakeholders to transform the Pact into a living document that delivers on its promises and fosters collaboration for a healthier, more equitable future.
