IBA Resumes Operations Following Investigations into Director General’s Death
The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has officially resumed its operations, following a period of closure to allow law enforcement agencies to conduct investigations into the untimely death of Director General Mr. Guntila Muleya on 23 July 2024.
IBA Board Chairperson Mr. Chikosola Chuula made the announcement, assuring stakeholders of the Board’s commitment to ensuring a smooth transition as the Authority resumes its roles in regulating the broadcasting industry.
Mr. Chuula emphasized the IBA’s dedication to promoting professionalism and maintaining high standards within the industry, in alignment with its core mission.
He expressed profound appreciation for the support extended by the Ministry of Information and Media during this challenging time.
“The IBA continues to grieve with Mr. Muleya’s family and wishes them God’s comfort,” Mr. Chuula stated, recognizing the difficult period the organization has endured.
The Chairperson also extended his gratitude to all stakeholders for their messages of sympathy and understanding during the temporary suspension of operations.
He commended the IBA staff for their cooperation with investigative bodies and encouraged continued collaboration as investigations proceed.
