ACC Investigates Cabinet Ministers on Corruption Allegations
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has confirmed that it is investigating several current cabinet ministers for alleged corruption.
However, Deputy Director General Monica Chipanta Mwansa, speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka, stated it would be premature to disclose the names of the ministers involved.
Ms. Mwansa also announced the conclusion of investigations against Livingstone Mayor Constance Nalishebo Muleabai. The case is now under legal scrutiny.
Mayor Muleabai is accused of receiving a K180,000 bribe from the owner of Zam Nuka Farm Ltd to facilitate the cancellation of property rates amounting to over K300,000, among other allegations.
In addition, Ms. Mwansa clarified that the commission has been investigating former Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Ronald Simwinga but no deal has been made.
Addressing recent turbulence within the ACC, which included the dissolution of the board and the resignation of the Director General, Ms. Mwansa described the situation as unfortunate.
Despite these challenges, she affirmed that the Commission remains unwavering in its commitment to executing its mandate.
