President Hichilema Meets ADEA Executive Secretary, Reaffirms Commitment to Foundational Learning
This morning, President Hakainde Hichilema hosted Mr. Albert Nsengiyumva, Executive Secretary of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), at State House.
The meeting centered on Zambia’s role as the Champion of Foundational Learning, a position President Hichilema was nominated for in November 2023, marking the first time a Head of State has held this title on the continent.
President Hichilema expressed his administration’s dedication to leveraging this platform to inspire African governments to tackle challenges in foundational learning.
Aligning with Zambia’s vision of providing free education from primary to secondary school, he highlighted the country’s significant strides in early childhood to secondary education and the implementation of school feeding programs.
These initiatives have resulted in unprecedented enrollment levels across Zambia.
“We are proud of the progress we’ve made in ensuring every child has access to quality foundational education,” said President Hichilema. “Our administration will continue to enhance educational standards, fostering a brighter future for all Zambian children.”
