Czech Republic Commits to Enhance Value Addition in Zambia
The Czech Republic has pledged its support to Zambia in promoting value addition through the production of finished products, marking a shift away from the export of raw materials.
Czech President His Excellency Petr Pavel underscored the significance of their cooperation with Zambia, emphasizing a commitment to the ‘made in Zambia’ initiative through enhanced value addition within the country.
President Pavel made these remarks during a significant diplomatic event at Prague Castle, following the accreditation of Her Excellency Winnie Natala Chibesakunda as Zambia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Czech Republic.
He highlighted that Czech companies investing in Zambia are encouraged to engage in value addition locally, aiming to boost economic cooperation between the two nations.
“Economy and trade serve as catalysts for robust cooperation between countries,” President Pavel stated, urging Ambassador Chibesakunda to facilitate the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to operationalize key cooperative initiatives.
Ambassador Chibesakunda conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema to President Pavel and the people of the Czech Republic.
She expressed gratitude for the Czech Republic’s prompt response to Zambia’s call for assistance during recent droughts, noting a high-level delegation’s visit earlier this year.
Acknowledging Czech support in crucial sectors, Ambassador Chibesakunda highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in healthcare, agriculture, and energy.
She appreciated the Czech Republic’s contribution through scholarships aimed at enhancing Zambia’s economic development capabilities.
The Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Germany, issued a statement through Lubinda Kashewe, First Secretary-Press, detailing these significant diplomatic exchanges aimed at bolstering bilateral relations and fostering mutual development.
