Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Chiefs’ Welfare, Says Minister Mwiimbu
Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Jack Mwiimbu, has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to enhancing the welfare of traditional leaders across Zambia.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Lwiindi Gonde ceremony for the Tonga-speaking people, Mr Mwiimbu highlighted the New Dawn administration’s ongoing efforts, including the construction of chiefs’ palaces nationwide without any discrimination.
Mr Mwiimbu, who is also the Member of Parliament for Monze Central, inspected the construction progress of Chief Monze’s Palace on June 30, 2024.
The Zambia Correctional Service, the primary contractor for these projects, reported that the palace is now 60% complete.
During the inspection, Mr Mwiimbu was accompanied by the Deputy Secretary General of the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND), Gertrude Imenda.
Assistant Superintendent Frank Maela and Inspector Peter Mulenga provided the progress update on the palace construction.
“The New Dawn administration is committed to the welfare of all traditional leaders. This can be seen through the ongoing construction of chiefs’ palaces across the country,” said Mr Mwiimbu. “We ensure that these efforts are carried out without segregation, demonstrating our dedication to supporting our traditional leaders.”
