Govt Recognises Fashion Sakala’s Contributions to Society

The Government of Zambia, through the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts, has honoured Mr. Fashion Sakala for his exceptional achievements and significant contributions to his community.

Mr. Sakala, a celebrated football icon, has made a remarkable impact by single-handedly sponsoring a football tournament in Chipata district, Eastern Province, and donating wheelchairs to vulnerable members of society.

Mr. Sakala’s initiative not only brought the Chipata community together but also provided a valuable platform for young, aspiring sportsmen and women to showcase their talents. This opportunity is expected to enhance their prospects of achieving greater success in their sporting careers.

In a statement issued by Kangwa Chileshe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts, the government expressed its profound appreciation for Mr. Sakala’s efforts. “It is gratifying to note that Mr. Fashion Sakala has returned to his community and the nation to show appreciation to the people who have supported him in his journey to becoming a successful football icon in Zambia and globally,” the statement read.

The government supports initiatives that contribute to societal well-being, such as sports and recreational activities, which are known to reduce crime, drug abuse, and other social vices. Mr. Sakala’s gesture aligns with the government’s call for reinvesting in local communities and the nation.

“The gesture by Mr. Sakala to hold a football tournament and donate wheelchairs to those in need resonates well with the government’s call for reinvesting back home. The wheelchairs will significantly assist the underprivileged in society,” stated Chileshe. “We call on eminent individuals, both locally and in the diaspora, to follow Mr. Sakala’s example and contribute to their communities.”

The Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts will continue to support and partner with initiatives like Mr. Sakala’s, which work towards the betterment of society. The government is committed to fostering such undertakings to ensure the wellbeing and development of communities across Zambia.
