President Hichilema Commissions Sino-ZAM Vocational College of Science and Technology in Luanshya
President Hakainde Hichilema has officially commissioned the Sino-ZAM Vocational College of Science and Technology in Luanshya, Copperbelt Province, marking a significant milestone in Zambia’s educational and economic development landscape.
The college, constructed at a cost exceeding $100 million, is set to deliver extensive benefits to both miners and the broader community.
In his speech, President Hichilema commended Sino-ZAM Mine Management for their substantial investment in skills development for young Zambians.
He emphasised that the college is poised to equip individuals with the necessary knowledge to excel in various professional fields, particularly preparing students for the modern labour market’s demands.
This initiative is expected to foster a more competent and capable workforce, addressing critical skills gaps identified in the region.
President Hichilema highlighted that the college’s curriculum is designed to provide comprehensive training, with further opportunities for advanced students to receive additional education in China.
This aligns closely with the Zambian government’s broader agenda of developing a skilled and diverse workforce, which is crucial for the nation’s economic growth and development.
“The establishment of Sino-ZAM Vocational College is a testament to our commitment to creating a skilled workforce that can drive our economic agenda forward. It not only benefits the mining sector but also extends its reach to ordinary citizens, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” said President Hichilema.
