Zambia Renews Commitment to Morocco’s Territorial Integrity in Bilateral Talks
Hon Mulambo Haimbe, S.C, M.P., Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, engaged in constructive bilateral discussions with his Moroccan counterpart, His Excellency Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Expatriates in Rabat, Morocco on 24th May 2024.
During the discussions, a wide array of cooperation areas, spanning mining, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, and security, were deliberated upon.
A significant outcome of the talks was Zambia’s reaffirmation of its support for Morocco’s territorial integrity.
Hon. Haimbe voiced Zambia’s backing for the ongoing United Nations initiatives aimed at achieving a lasting resolution to the Western Sahara issue.
The Moroccan Minister warmly welcomed Zambia’s stance, underscoring the robust and positive relations existing between the two nations.
Further cementing their cooperation, the ministers agreed to operationalise the 2023-2025 Roadmap of Cooperation, which was previously signed in 2023.
They urged senior officials from both countries to collaboratively develop implementation matrices to ensure the effective execution of agreed-upon initiatives.
Hon. Haimbe also graced this year’s Africa Day Commemoration as the guest of honour, a prestigious event attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps in Morocco.
This participation underlines Zambia’s commitment to strengthening ties with African nations and promoting unity and cooperation across the continent.
