Proflight Soars as a Proudly Zambian Airline

Zambia’s Proflight Zambia has been recognized for its dedication to the country’s economy by joining the government’s Proudly Zambian Campaign.

The initiative, led by the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry (MCTI), promotes locally-made products and services. Proflight exemplifies this mission, operating Zambian-owned aircraft flown by Zambian pilots, and actively sourcing supplies and services from local businesses.

Since its 2005 launch, Proflight has grown its domestic network to eight destinations, including seasonal safari routes. They also offer regional connections to three South African destinations.

“We are proud to be part of the Proudly Zambian Campaign,” said Proflight Zambia Director Flight Operations Captain Josias Walubita. “We’ve maintained our roots as a Zambian airline and witnessed the push for local content across various sectors.”

Proflight’s commitment to excellence and safety has made them the preferred choice for travelers within Zambia and for those connecting internationally through Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town. They surpassed their 2023 passenger target, serving over 279,000 people.

The Proudly Zambian Campaign aims to create local jobs through business growth. Proflight’s workforce has expanded from 140 to over 250 employees, showcasing Zambian talent.

“We are proud to have Proflight Zambia join the campaign and fly the Zambian flag high,” said Proudly Zambian Campaign Coordinator Sopani Muzumara. “Proflight proves that Zambians can deliver quality service.”

Proflight further supports Zambia’s economy by contributing to tourism growth. They recently resumed flights to Kasama, offering locally-sourced Kasama Coffee on the route.

Proflight is also a licensed Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO), maintaining its fleet at their facility in Lusaka. This demonstrates Zambia’s technological and mechanical capabilities in the aviation industry.

Proflight’s commitment to Zambian talent, local sourcing, and safety makes them a true representative of the Proudly Zambian Campaign.
