Zambia’s New Ambassador to CAR Presents Credentials, Vows to Bolster Ties
Zambia’s new Ambassador to the Central African Republic (CAR), Paulu Kosita, presented his credentials to President Faustin-Archange Touadéra on Tuesday, officially beginning his diplomatic mission.
Ambassador Kosita, who is also Zambia’s envoy to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), will oversee relations with CAR on a non-residential basis.
During the ceremony at the presidential palace, President Touadéra highlighted his desire for stronger ties between the two nations, particularly in defense and security cooperation.
He urged the Ambassador to expedite the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on this front.
The President expressed his appreciation for Zambia’s contribution of troops to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MUNISCA).
He emphasized the importance of African nations working together to address security challenges on the continent.
Ambassador Kosita reciprocated the President’s sentiments, pledging to solidify diplomatic relations between Zambia and CAR.
He underscored Zambia’s commitment to fostering peace efforts in Africa, echoing President Hakainde Hichilema’s philosophy of “instability anywhere is instability everywhere.”
The Ambassador reaffirmed Zambia’s continued participation in peacekeeping missions, citing the ongoing deployment to CAR under MUNISCA since 2014, alongside other African deployments.
Prior to his meeting with the President, Ambassador Kosita presented copies of his credentials to CAR’s Foreign Minister, Sylvie Baipo Temon.
