Emirates Airlines Strengthens Ties with Mauritius and Uganda to Boost Tourism

Emirates Airlines is doubling down on its efforts to enhance inbound tourism by teaming up with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) and the Uganda Tourism Board. The partnerships were solidified during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, where Emirates engaged in various memorandum of understanding (MoU) signings and discussions with industry partners.

In its commitment to Mauritius, Emirates renewed its partnership with MTPA, aiming to further promote tourism to the island nation. With double daily A380 services to Mauritius since 2002, Emirates has been pivotal in facilitating tourist arrivals, contributing significantly to the country’s tourism economy. In 2023 alone, nearly 1.3 million tourists arrived in Mauritius, with Emirates playing a crucial role in their transportation.

Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for West Asia & Indian Ocean, expressed pride in the airline’s role in supporting Mauritius’ tourism targets and emphasized their commitment to promoting the destination globally.

Similarly, Emirates inked a MoU with the Uganda Tourism Board to drive inbound tourism to the East African nation. Uganda, renowned for its breathtaking natural landscapes and diverse wildlife, has been a key destination on Emirates’ network for over two decades. Through this partnership, Emirates aims to showcase Uganda’s attractions to international travelers while boosting the country’s tourism sector.

Badr Abbas, Emirates’ Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for Africa, highlighted Uganda’s appeal as a tourism destination, emphasizing its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage.

Lilly Ajarova, CEO of the Uganda Tourism Board, hailed the partnership as a significant milestone in promoting Uganda as a competitive tourism destination, expressing excitement about leveraging Emirates’ global network to attract more tourists to the country.

Under these agreements, Emirates will focus on promoting Mauritius and Uganda as favorable tourism destinations in key markets, while both parties will collaborate on marketing initiatives to stimulate tourism bookings and enhance the visibility of these destinations.
