Zambian Breweries and Authorities Prioritize Safety for MDOT 2024
As preparations for the highly anticipated Mosi Day of Thunder (MDOT) 2024 in Livingstone, Zambia, are underway, Zambian Breweries, in collaboration with the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) and the Zambia Police Service (ZP), is urging festival-goers to prioritize safety during the festivities.
With thousands of music enthusiasts expected to converge from across the nation and beyond, safety measures have been heightened to ensure the well-being of attendees.
Zambian Breweries, as a key stakeholder, has committed K100,000 towards road safety education and enforcement activities leading up to and during the event.
Thais Cavinatto, Zambian Breweries Country Director, emphasized the paramount importance of safety for all festival attendees.
She highlighted the collaborative efforts between Zambian Breweries, RTSA, and the Zambia Police to ensure that safety measures are diligently implemented throughout the event.
This year’s MDOT theme, “Thunder Together,” underscores the spirit of unity, collaboration, and solidarity. Ms. Cavinatto emphasized the significance of celebrating Zambia’s shared heritage and culture through this annual event.
Eng. Alinani Msisya, RTSA Deputy Director of Safety, addressed the risks associated with increased vehicular traffic during the festival period.
He emphasized the need for adherence to road traffic regulations, particularly avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol and other reckless behaviors that contribute to road accidents.
Zambian Breweries, known for its Smart Drinking initiative, reiterated its commitment to promoting responsible alcohol consumption.
Tawanda Hojane, Zambian Breweries Legal and Corporate Affairs Director, urged attendees to follow the “Cheers Pa Easy” principles, which encourage pacing oneself, staying hydrated, and refraining from driving after consuming alcohol.
The 7th edition of Mosi Day of Thunder promises an electrifying celebration of Zambian talent and culture, featuring a star-studded lineup of local artists alongside South Africa’s renowned drum boss, Heavy K.
In light of the festivities, Zambian Breweries encourages attendees to prioritize safety by utilizing designated drivers or alternative transportation options to avoid driving under the influence.
Ms. Cavinatto expressed pride in hosting the event for the seventh consecutive year, highlighting its role in uniting people from diverse backgrounds and showcasing Zambia’s cultural richness to both local and international audiences.
