Vedanta Resources Pledges Support for Zambian Sports After KCM Takeover

Vedanta Resources, a global mining company, has pledged to champion the development of sports in Zambia, particularly golf, once they take full control of Konkola Copper Mines (KCM).

Their support will go beyond a one-time gesture. While Vedanta is currently a sponsor for the upcoming Nchanga Golf Club tournament starting on April 13, 2024, their commitment is long-term.

Vedanta has specifically identified the Nchanga Golf Club as a key partner. They plan to contribute to the ongoing upgrades and renovations of the golf course, including essential repairs.

While golf receives initial focus, Vedanta’s vision extends to other sports. Moses Banda, Vedanta’s Country Director for Zambia, announced the establishment of a community trust to provide broader support for various sports disciplines after acquiring KCM.

Banda acknowledged the importance of improved facilities for a better playing experience.

He commended the Nchanga Golf Club’s initiative to upgrade its course and stressed the need for collaboration among sports enthusiasts to achieve this goal.
