PeP President Sean E. Tembo Delivers Keynote Speech at RCZ Fundraising Dinner and Launch

On Saturday, April 6, 2024, the Reformed Church in Zambia (RCZ) commemorated 125 years of its existence with a fundraising dinner and launch event held at the Showgrounds in Lusaka.

The highlight of the evening was the keynote speech delivered by PeP President Mr. Sean E. Tembo (SET), who served as the Guest of Honor for the occasion.

In his address, Mr. Tembo expressed his gratitude for being selected as the Guest of Honor, acknowledging the significance of the event in celebrating the rich history and contributions of the RCZ to the spiritual and socio-economic fabric of Zambia.

Mr. Tembo recounted the remarkable journey of the RCZ, tracing its establishment back to 1899 when the first congregation was founded in Chipata by Dutch missionaries.

Over the past 125 years, the RCZ has expanded its presence across all ten provinces of Zambia, spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and contributing to various sectors such as education and healthcare.

Highlighting the achievements of the RCZ, Mr. Tembo noted the establishment of over 190 congregations and 19 presbyteries, as well as the founding of key educational institutions like Justo Mwale University and several secondary schools.

He commended the Church’s dedication to serving both the spiritual and socio-economic needs of the Zambian people.

However, Mr. Tembo also raised poignant questions about the persistent poverty and economic challenges facing Zambia despite its abundance of natural resources.

He emphasized the need for effective leadership and stewardship to harness the country’s potential for the benefit of all citizens.

Drawing from biblical wisdom, Mr. Tembo urged the Zambian people to seek divine guidance in selecting leaders who possess the vision, competence, patriotism, and integrity to unlock the nation’s economic potential.

He emphasized the importance of proactive efforts in creating a better and prosperous Zambia for future generations.

Concluding his speech, Mr. Tembo officially launched the activities planned to celebrate 125 years of the RCZ’s existence, invoking blessings upon the event and its participants.
