Lusaka Provincial Minister Emphasizes Importance of Proper Water Management
In observance of World Water Day (WWD) on March 22nd, Her Worship the Mayor of Lusaka, Ms. Chilando Chitangala, joined citizens across the nation in commemorating the event, which is celebrated annually to raise awareness about water-related issues.
This year’s theme, “Addressing Water and Sanitation Challenges to Promote Peace,” underscores the crucial role of water management in fostering peaceful communities.
The event in Lusaka saw the presence of Lusaka Provincial Minister, Honourable Sheal Mulyata, who emphasized the significance of proper water management.
Honourable Mulyata reiterated the commitment of the government, under the leadership of His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema, to ensure that every Zambian has access to safe and reliable drinking water.
This commitment aligns with the objectives outlined in the 8th National Development Plan, which supports the broader vision of achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) by 2030.
Highlighting the importance of individual responsibility, Honourable Mulyata emphasized that preventing water loss by rectifying water linkages in homes is essential. He emphasized that water, being a gift from God, requires careful attention and stewardship from all.
As part of the commemoration, the minister and other dignitaries toured various exhibition stands, engaging with exhibitors and stakeholders present at the event.
This interactive session provided an opportunity to exchange ideas, share innovative solutions, and explore partnerships to address water and sanitation challenges effectively.
