Airtel Networks Zambia Appoints Hussam Baday as Managing Director
Airtel Networks Zambia Plc has officially announced the appointment of Hussam Baday as its new Managing Director, succeeding Manu Sood, who has chosen to pursue personal interests outside of the company.
Hussam Baday, who previously served as the Chief Commercial Officer at Airtel Zambia since December 2021 and held the position of Interim Managing Director since September of the same year, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. Prior to his tenure at Airtel, Baday served as the Marketing Director at the company starting from July 2018.
In a statement released by Katebe Monica Musonda, the Chairperson of the Airtel Zambia Board, and disseminated by Airtel’s Head of Corporate Communications, Yuyo Nachali-Kambikambi, it was disclosed that Baday holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Leicester (UK) and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering.
He is also a holder of a Professional Diploma from The Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and has completed a professional certificate program in “Behavioral Economics” from Harvard Business School (HBS). Baday has further enriched his education through executive education in Leading with Results from INSEAD (France).
Before joining Airtel Networks Zambia PLC, Baday held significant positions in notable telecom companies such as Sudatel Telecom Group (STG), Ericsson, and Huawei. His extensive experience includes successful commercial strategies, business development initiatives, and a track record of improving commercial performance.
In her remarks, Airtel Zambia’s Board Chairperson, Musonda, expressed confidence in Baday’s ability to lead the company forward. “Hussam has a rich background in successful commercial strategies, business development, and proper execution that turned around commercial performance. We welcome Hussam wholeheartedly,” Musonda stated.
