Zambia and Saudi Arabia Pledge to Deepen Economic Ties
Zambia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering economic cooperation during a high-profile visit by His Excellency Eng. Abdurahman Abdulmohsen A. Alfadley, the Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia, along with his delegation, to the State House in Zambia.
President Hakainde Hichilema warmly welcomed the Saudi delegation, expressing gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, for sending the esteemed representatives to Zambia.
The President also extended heartfelt appreciation for the generous gift of a hospital constructed in Lusaka by the Kingdom.
During their discussions, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties in alignment with Zambia’s Foreign Policy of Economic Diplomacy. Zambia, known for its abundant natural resources, seeks to capitalize on Saudi Arabia’s advanced technology prowess.
With this objective in mind, the talks centered on exploring opportunities for capital mobilization, technology exchange, joint ventures, and value addition across various sectors.
In a notable development, Zambia appealed to Saudi Arabia to consider investing in the country’s mining sector, particularly in critical minerals such as manganese, cobalt, nickel, and copper.
President Hichilema highlighted the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships in this domain, which could significantly contribute to both nations’ economic growth and development.
The meeting underscored a shared commitment to fostering deeper cooperation and exploring avenues for sustainable economic collaboration between Zambia and Saudi Arabia.
