DEC and ECD Forge Powerful Alliances to Combat Drug Abuse Nationwide
The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) is intensifying its efforts to combat the escalating issue of drug and substance abuse, with the Education and Counseling Department (ECD) taking center stage in this campaign.
Collaborating with various partners across Zambia, the ECD is dedicated to eradicating this menace and steering the nation towards a drug-free future.
A significant milestone was achieved through a collaboration between ECD officers based in Ndola and the Zambia Army. A compelling presentation was delivered at Tug Argan Barracks, targeting army officers and highlighting the dangers of drug abuse.
Emphasizing the adverse effects on individuals, families, and communities, this initiative stressed the pivotal role of the armed forces in maintaining national security, thereby underscoring the importance of their awareness regarding such threats.
Recognizing the vulnerability of university students to peer pressure and its influence on drug abuse, the ECD team in Lusaka organized a specialized sensitization program during the orientation program for first-year students at the University of Zambia.
This initiative aimed to create a supportive environment for open discussions about drug abuse, empowering students to seek help when needed and fostering responsible decision-making.
Expanding its reach, ECD officers in Kasama partnered with the Kasama College of Education to educate first-year students during their orientation. This collaboration aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use and promote responsible behavior among young adults.
