Lusaka Mayor Commends Late Namibian President Hage Geingobe for Empowering Women and Youth
Lusaka Mayor, Ms. Chilando Chitangala, has lauded the late Namibian President Hage Geingobe as a visionary and progressive African leader who championed the empowerment of women and youth.
Speaking at the Namibian High Commission in Lusaka, Ms. Chitangala expressed her admiration for President Geingobe’s commitment to gender equality and youth inclusion in governance.
Highlighting President Geingobe’s support for women politicians, Ms. Chitangala cited the elevation of Vice President Madam Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah and the appointment of Ms. Emma Theofilus as Deputy Minister of Information, Communication and Technology, and later as minister in the same ministry.
She described these actions as pragmatic and progressive moves aimed at creating an enabling environment for women to thrive in the political arena.
“As we extend our condolences to our sisters and brothers in Namibia for this great loss, I am honored to live in a time when our leaders are making positive strides,” remarked Ms. Chitangala.
She emphasized President Geingobe’s belief in the capabilities of women, expressing gratitude and pride as a woman politician herself.
Ms. Chitangala also extended her best wishes to the people of Namibia as they prepare for elections later this year.
She emphasized the importance of God’s grace and providence during this period of transition and expressed solidarity with the Namibian nation.
