FQM Pledges Strong Support for Community Development in Partnership with Gov’t
The Country Manager of First Quantum Minerals (FQM), Dr. Bene, met with the Honorable Minister for Community Development and Social Services, Ms. Doreen Mwamba, to discuss collaborative initiatives.
Dr. Bene emphasized First Quantum Minerals’ dedication to social responsibility and expressed the company’s commitment to supporting the government’s efforts in community development through CSR initiatives.

During the meeting, Minister Doreen Mwamba highlighted the importance of prioritizing the well-being of communities, particularly in the context of the current surge in cholera cases.
She stressed the need for impactful programs that directly benefit communities and urged organizations to play an active role in addressing the challenges faced by vulnerable groups, especially children and persons with disabilities.
“With a surge in the cholera cases, it makes things more difficult, especially for children and persons with disabilities as they are more vulnerable,” noted Minister Mwamba, underscoring the urgency of collective action.
The Minister further urged FQM to take a keen interest in responding to the challenges faced by communities and encouraged the organization to contribute to programs that enhance the resilience of vulnerable populations.
In response, Dr. Bene assured the Minister that FQM was eager to support the community and national development.
