ZRA Now Collects Fees at Kazungula and Chirundu Border Posts
Starting from February 1st, 2024, the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) is now in charge of collecting Road Toll and Road Service Licence fees at Kazungula and Chirundu One-Stop-Border-Posts.
This change is part of the government’s plan to make trade and services smoother at these border posts by reducing the number of agencies from 15 to six.
Oliver Nzala, Manager of Corporate Communications at ZRA, shared the news, saying that this new way of collecting fees will first happen at Kazungula and Chirundu, and then it might be used at other borders too.
Before this, the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) was responsible for collecting these fees until January 31st, 2024.
ZRA will handle fee collections at the border, while other agencies will still manage things inland. Mr. Nzala emphasized that ZRA is focused on making things faster and better for clearing both people and goods at border facilities.
This change is expected to make things simpler for traders, transporters, and people crossing these borders, helping trade and economic activities in the area. People are encouraged to learn about the new procedures, and ZRA promises to make the transition as smooth as possible.
