ZAMMSA Boosts Mental Health Product Availability, Aims for 70% Inventory in Coming Months

Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) is pleased to announce significant progress in its efforts to ensure the availability of mental health and behavioral disorder products in recent months. 

In a statement issued by the Commissioner, Victor Nyasulu, the agency’s dedication to improving healthcare accessibility is evident in its current stock position, which has reached an impressive 32 percent, marking a substantial improvement compared to previous months.

ZAMMSA is excited to report that it anticipates further increases in its mental health product inventory through government-to-government interventions and valuable contributions from esteemed partners, including UNICEF and UNDP. 

With these expected additions, the agency is on track to achieve a remarkable 70 percent availability of mental health commodities in its inventory within the next three months.

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, ZAMMSA reaffirms its unwavering commitment to making essential medicines, including those for mental health and behavioral disorders, accessible in healthcare facilities throughout Zambia. 

The agency recognizes the significance of prioritizing mental health as a fundamental aspect of its mission.

Furthermore, ZAMMSA has secured readily available stock for mental health products and has initiated procurement requests for additional Mental Health Commodities. 

These achievements underscore the agency’s dedication to addressing the critical healthcare needs of the community.
