ZAMMSA REACT TO 2024 NATIONAL BUDGET

The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) expressed its delight at the government’s decision to raise the funding for medicines and medical equipment from K4.6 billion in 2023 to K5 billion in the 2024 National Budget.

In a statement issued by Mr. Bradley Chingobe Senior Manager – Public Relations, during the presentation of the 2024 National Budget last Friday, Finance Minister Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane revealed that out of the K20.9 billion allocated to the Ministry of Health, K5 billion would be designated for the procurement of medicines and medical equipment.

This substantial increase demonstrates the government’s unwavering commitment to providing seamless and high-quality healthcare services to the Zambian population.

As the agency responsible for procuring, storing, and distributing medicines and medical supplies for the Public Health Supply Chain, ZAMMSA views this funding boost as an opportunity to acquire a more extensive range of medicines and medical supplies for the country.

ZAMMSA pledges to utilize the funds judiciously, ensuring excellent value for money in the procurement process.

The agency reassures the public of its unwavering dedication to the efficient and timely procurement and distribution of medicines and medical supplies.
