Emirates becomes Global Partner and Official Airline of the America’s Cup

Emirates proudly announces its role as the Global Partner and Official Airline of the 37th America’s Cup, marking its second association with this prestigious sailing event. Emirates previously sponsored the 36th edition of the America’s Cup in Auckland and supported Emirates Team New Zealand in 2021. The airline has also renewed its naming rights partnership with the reigning America’s Cup champions, Emirates Team New Zealand.

As the Global Partner and Official Airline, Emirates will have strategic branding opportunities at various America’s Cup events, including Preliminary Regattas in Barcelona and Jeddah, the Challenger Selection Series, and the Cup Match. Emirates’ branding will be featured on AC37 chase boats, event boats, the official stage, and prize-giving areas. The airline’s sponsorship visibility will extend across multiple channels, including social media, digital platforms, traditional media, live events, and official materials. Emirates will also engage with fans through Race Village activations and hospitality.

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, expressed pride in expanding the airline’s involvement in world-class sailing by sponsoring the 37th America’s Cup. He described the America’s Cup as the pinnacle of sailing, promising thrilling action and moments throughout the event. Emirates is excited to bring more global attention to this prestigious competition, particularly with one of the preliminary regattas taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, later this year.

Grant Dalton, CEO of America’s Cup Event & Emirates Team New Zealand, highlighted the significance of Emirates’ role as the Global Partner and Official Airline for the second consecutive time, emphasizing the airline’s history as a major sponsor in the world of sports.

The 37th America’s Cup in 2024 will see all participating teams, including Emirates-sponsored Team New Zealand, racing their AC75 America’s Cup class yachts. The journey begins with the first preliminary regatta in Vilanova i la Geltrú between September 14th and 17th, followed by the second regatta in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, between November 29th and December 2nd, 2023. The AC Challenger Selection series regatta starts in September 2024, leading up to the main America’s Cup Match, scheduled to begin on October 12th, 2024, all taking place in Barcelona, Spain.

Emirates’ involvement in sailing dates back to 2004 when it became the naming sponsor of Emirates Team New Zealand. Over the years, the airline has remained a steadfast supporter of the team’s efforts in America’s Cup events to bring the Cup home to New Zealand. Emirates celebrated with the team when they secured the trophy in Bermuda in 2017 and again in Auckland in 2021.

In addition to its association with the America’s Cup, Emirates recently partnered with the Great Britain SailGP Team, one of the world’s top sailing teams, in a sponsorship agreement spanning three seasons. Emirates’ “Fly Better” logo will be featured on the Great British F50 race boat, including branding on the wing and hull. Alongside their involvement in sailing events, Emirates and Great Britain SailGP will support various initiatives focused on sustainability and gender balance.
