Emirates Introduces Onboard Meal Preordering Service for Enhanced Customer Experience

Emirates, the world-renowned airline, is set to revolutionize the inflight dining experience by introducing a new meal preordering initiative. Starting from 25 July, Business Class passengers on all flights between Dubai and London Heathrow, London Gatwick, and London Stansted will have the option to preselect their hot main meal between 14 days and 24 hours prior to their flight. This innovative service not only ensures customers get their preferred meal choice every time but also contributes to reducing food wastage.

Passengers will have the convenience of browsing the onboard menu on Emirates.com or the Emirates app up to 14 days before their journey. They can then choose from a delectable selection of regionally inspired dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Additionally, passengers with specific dietary requirements can pre-order special meals as needed.

Once onboard, cabin crew members will use a custom-built application on a device to view passengers’ meal selections and serve them their chosen hot dish. The meal preordering service will complement Emirates’ existing suite of AI-enabled customer preference tracking data and cabin crew reports, enhancing menu planning and ensuring optimal food loading for a premium inflight dining experience, often referred to as the ‘restaurant in the sky.’

Emirates plans to expand this innovative initiative to more routes and travel classes in the near future and is closely monitoring customer feedback during the initial rollout phase.

The introduction of the meal preordering service is yet another example of Emirates’ commitment to providing enhanced convenience and digitally enabled journeys for its passengers. Alongside website and app check-ins, digital boarding passes, and itinerary management, passengers can now access digital menus in advance, join Emirates Skywards to enjoy complimentary connectivity based on tier membership and class of travel, and curate a personalized playlist of favorite movies, TV shows, and music available on the in-flight entertainment system (ICE).

To ensure continuous improvement, Emirates passengers are invited to participate in a quick digital survey that appears on the inflight entertainment screen, enabling them to provide feedback and insights that contribute to an even better flying experience with the airline.
