Octagon Financial Services Limited Plants 60 Trees in Chilanga District

Chilanga, Zambia – Monday, 27 March 2023 – Octagon Financial Services Limited has today launched a tree-planting initiative in Chilanga district, Lusaka Province with the support of the Member of Parliament for Chilanga constituency, Honourable. Sipho Hlazo. The event is aimed at promoting environmental conservation and raising awareness about the importance of planting trees to combat climate change.
According to the latest scientific reports, climate change is an urgent global crisis that is already having severe impacts on ecosystems, economies, and communities worldwide. Zambia, like many other countries in Africa, is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, with increased temperatures and changing rainfall patterns affecting agriculture, water availability, and human health.
The new dawn government through the Ministry of Green Economy is making a commendable effort towards mitigating the effects of climate change with its ambitious drive to plant one (1) million trees. This eco-friendly initiative is in line with the government’s commitment to promoting sustainability and preserving the environment for future generations. By planting trees, the government aims to reduce carbon emissions and enhance air quality, which are crucial in addressing the adverse effects of climate change.
Speaking at the tree planting event, Octagon Financial Services Zambia Managing Director, Mrs Phyllis Tiller, said, “We are delighted to be launching our tree planting campaign in Chilanga district, and we are honored to have the support of Honorable Sipho Hlazo, MP.
