Managing Director Mukwandi Chibesakunda reiterated Zanaco’s dedication to empowering women through its Zee Women’s Banking proposition, focusing on access to finance, markets, and networking opportunities.
Over the past two years, the bank has disbursed K3.8 million in collateral-free loans, enabling women to initiate and expand their businesses, thereby creating employment opportunities and contributing to economic prosperity.
Chibesakunda emphasized the significant impact Zanaco has made in recognizing and honoring women in communities, making the Zee Women’s Banking Awards a beacon of inspiration.
As Zanaco marks its 55th anniversary and Zambia celebrates 60 years of independence, the bank remains steadfast in supporting the country’s prosperity, with a special focus on caring for communities where women play a pivotal role.
The theme for the 2024 International Women’s Day, “Invest In Women and Girls — Accelerate Progress,” aligns with Zanaco’s commitment to empowering women.
Chibesakunda highlighted the importance of empowering women and girls in eastern and southern Africa, emphasizing the transformative power of their empowerment in driving social stability and economic growth.
As part of its efforts, Zanaco continues to invest in initiatives that empower girls, including partnerships with organizations like World Vision Zambia under the Strong Girls Zambia Campaign, aimed at promoting education and eliminating early marriages.
Guest of Honor, Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo, emphasized the importance of investing in women and girls, citing their resilience, strength, and determination as essential qualities that drive progress.
While acknowledging the government’s strides in empowering women, Masebo encouraged women to push boundaries and create a more inclusive society.
