Health Minister Commissions Newly Constructed Mungule Zonal Health Centre in Chibombo District
Health Minister Sylvia Masebo has officially inaugurated the newly constructed Mungule Zonal Health Centre in Chibombo District, Central Province, at a cost of approximately USD$1.5 million.
Addressing attendees during the commissioning ceremony in Mungule area of Katuba Constituency, Minister Masebo emphasized that the state-of-the-art facility will significantly enhance the delivery of quality healthcare services in Chibombo district, with a particular focus on maternal and child healthcare and emergency services.
Minister Masebo extended her appreciation to Chieftainess Mungule for providing the land for the construction of the Zonal Health Centre, which is expected to serve over 170,000 people from Mungule ward and neighboring wards of Katuba constituency.
She underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring accessible and high-quality healthcare services for communities, bringing essential services closer to their homes.
In his remarks, Chibombo District Council Chairperson Newton Nyeleti lauded the commissioning of the Mungule Zonal Health Centre, noting its significance in providing timely access to quality healthcare services for residents of Katuba Constituency.
He highlighted the reduction in patient referrals to hospitals in Lusaka, as most healthcare needs can now be addressed locally.
Katuba Constituency Member of Parliament Mwabashike Nkulukusa commended Health Minister Sylvia Masebo for her role in facilitating the construction of the Zonal Health Centre.
He emphasized that the successful completion of the facility fulfills a promise made by the New Dawn Government to the people of Katuba Constituency, demonstrating tangible progress over the past two years.
